# Midpoint Formula

Q: Find the midpoint of the following segment created by these pairs of endpoints: (0,1),(0,5)

A: The midpoint formula is a pretty easy one to remember.

If you have two points, $(x_1,y_1)$ and $(x_2,y_2)$, the location of the midpoint between those 2 points is:

x-coordinate: $\frac{(x_1+x_2)}{2}$
y-coordinate: $\frac{(y_1+y_2)}{2}$

For your question, the midpoint is:

x-coordinate: $\frac{(0+0)}{2} = 0$
y-coordinate: $\frac{(1+5)}{2}= 6/2 = 3$

So the midpoint is at (0,3)
