Midpoint Formula

Q: Find the midpoint of the following segment created by these pairs of endpoints: (0,1),(0,5)

A: The midpoint formula is a pretty easy one to remember.

If you have two points, (x_1,y_1) and (x_2,y_2), the location of the midpoint between those 2 points is:

x-coordinate: \frac{(x_1+x_2)}{2}
y-coordinate: \frac{(y_1+y_2)}{2}

For your question, the midpoint is:

x-coordinate: \frac{(0+0)}{2} = 0
y-coordinate: \frac{(1+5)}{2}= 6/2 = 3

So the midpoint is at (0,3)
